Congratulations! You are the owner of The 3 Quart Iced Tea Pot by
Mr. Coffee. This unique appliance has been designed to provide you with
excellent tasting iced tea quickly and conveniently.
Our specially designed steeping basket keeps tea immersed in hot water to
extract the full flavor from your tea. The tea then drips down into the pitcher
filled with ice to chill. As a result, you get consistently great tasting, fresh
brewed iced tea every time.
The 3 Quart Iced Tea Pot will automatically shut-off when the brewing is com-
pleted. When the tea is all gone, the pitcher and lid store over the top of the
machine and the cord wraps around the machine to save valuable counter
space.
To insure the long life of this appliance and its trouble-free operation, please
read all of the instructions in this booklet carefully before you begin to use
this appliance. Save these instructions and refer to them often for cleaning
and care tips.

Helpful Hints
1. Use more or less tea or coffee to suit your taste. Additional tea bags
may be needed when using herbal tea.
2. If your ice supply is low, you can substitute with cold tap water. After
filling the water reservoir with the proper amount of water, refill the
pitcher with cold tap water a second time to the desired 1, 2 or 3 quart
WATER level. Refrigerate to chill.
3. Tea may turn cloudy as it chills due to the tannic acids found in tea.
Higher quality teas will contain more tannic acids than others. Using
less tea will reduce the cloudiness.
4. For extra flavor, try adding several bags of herbal or flavored tea to
your brew.
5. For excellent iced coffee, try dark roast coffee or any other flavored
coffee.
To
1. Fill the pitcher with tap water to the
desired capacity as indicated by the 1,
2 and 3 quart WATER levels marked
on the pitcher.
WARNING: To prevent Injury from
hot steam, do not plug the unit in
until water is in the reservoir and the
pitcher Is in place.
2. Pour the water into the water reservoir.
(Figure A)
3. Place a Mr. Coffee brand paper filter in
the steeping basket and add the

and then secure lid on top of basket.
(Figure C). Make sure the steeping dial
is in the closed position (Figure D).

PLEASE NOTE: Cold tap water can be
used as a substitute for ice cubes. Instead
of filling the pitcher with ice cubes, simply
refill the pitcher with cold water a second
time to the desired 1, 2 or 3 quart WATER
level. Do not fill to the ICE level or your
pitcher may overflow during brewing.
Refrigerate to chill.
6. Slide the pitcher with lid, spout first,
under the machine. Make sure the
spout lid is open (Figure F).
7. Plug the cord into an electrical outlet
and depress the push button (ON). The
indicator light will illuminate to let you
know the machine is on.
PLEASE NOTE: The first time the
machine is used, it may not be necessary
to depress the push button (ON) to turn
the machine on, simply plugging the
machine into an outlet will start the brew-
ing cycle. Also, if the push button (ON) is
depressed before the machine is plugged
into an outlet, plugging the machine into
an outlet will start the brewing cycle.

6. When the brewing cycle is completed,
The Iced Tea Pot will shut off automati-
cally. Drain the remainder of the tea in
the steeping basket by turning the
steeping dial to “open” (Figure G).

utes before draining the remaining tea into
the pitcher.

the contents of the steeping
basket. Rinse out the steeping basket
and lid with warm water after each
use. (The steeping valve on the bottom
of the basket may become sticky and
not open and close properly, if not
rinsed out regularly).
11 .Leftover tea can be stored in the refrig-
erator. When the machine is not in use,
the pitcher and lid store over the top of
the machine. The cord has a cord clip
so the cord can be wrapped around the
Figure H
machine and secured (Figure H).
To Brew Iced Coffee
Using the suggested amount of coffee in the chart listed on page 6, fol-
low the instructions for making iced tea except for instruction #4. Instead
of turning the steeping dial to “closed”, keep it in the “open” position. It is
not necessary to steep coffee!
CAUTION: Decaffeinated coffee, particularly when used with chemically
softened water, can cause slower filtration. The steeping dial must be left
in the “open” position or the unit may overflow.
Problem Solving
The tea is too weak:
-
-
-
add more tea.
herbal tea does not brew as strong, you may need to use more tea.
after the machine shuts off, wait for a few minutes before draining the
remaining tea into the pitcher.
-check to make sure the steeping dial is in the closed position during
brewing so that the tea steeps.
The tea is too strong:
-
use less tea.
-the tea may be steeping too long. Be sure to drain the remaining tea in
the steeping basket by turning the steeping dial to “open” as soon as
the machine shuts off.
I do not have enough ice:
-
use cold tap water as a substitute. See Helpful Hint #2 on page 6.

Problem Solving (cont.)
The machine will not turn on:
-

-
is the cord plugged in?
check to insure that the pushbutton is fully depressed.
the machine may need to be cleaned. See the “Deliming is a Must” section
below on page 9.
-
wait 3 minutes minimum (unit must cool down before starting another brew
(cycle) and try again.
Daily Care
1. To maintain the quality of all parts and minimize tea stains, we recommend
washing the pitcher, pitcher lid, steeping basket and steeping basket lid with
warm water and mild detergent, regularly.
2 . Hard water can leave a whitish mineral deposit inside the pitcher and steep-
ing basket. Tea and coffee discolors these deposits. To remove, fill the bas-
ket and pitcher with warm white vinegar and let it soak for about 20 minutes.
3. Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners. They will cause scratches which can
lead to breakage.
Deliming is a Must
The Iced Tea Pot must be delimed when you begin to notice an increase in
steaming or if the pumping action stops before all the water has been pumped
out of the machine.
The frequency of cleaning depends on the hardness of water used. Listed below
are the suggested cleaning intervals.
SUGGESTED CLEANING INTERVAL
Type of Water
Soft Water
Cleaning
every 80 brew cycles
Frequency
Hard Water
every 40 brew cycles
For best results use MR. COFFEE CLEANER. It works better than vinegar and
has no unpleasant odor. Instructions for both Mr. Coffee Cleaner and vinegar

Mix thoroughly to dissolve the cleaner.. This will make a clear blue solution.
